Our name
Smritika comes from smriti — the word for memory.
That is the entire brief, in a single word. Not photographs: memory. The thing you reach for in twenty years when you want to feel a day again.
We are a photography and videography studio based in Kitchener–Waterloo, working across Ontario and throughout North America. We photograph weddings and the whole week around them, and we photograph the quieter milestones too — the last weeks of a pregnancy, a newborn’s first fortnight, the family portrait nobody has got around to in eleven years.
Our work is warm rather than clinical, and unhurried rather than assembly-line. We take fewer bookings than we could, on purpose.
